Walk To Spread Awareness About Accessible Elections
The Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Telangana has organized a walk on Sunday, March 31, 2019 at People’s Plaza, Necklace Road, Hyderabad to spread awareness about the various measures initiated to ensure inclusion of persons with disabilities in the electoral process and fulfill the Election Commission of India’s motto, “No Voter To Be Left Behind”. The walk is also aimed at motivating persons with disabilities to come forward and exercise their franchise.
Government officials led by Chief Electoral Officer, Telangana, Dr Rajat Kumar, Additional CEO Buddha Prakash, GHMC Commissioner M.Dana Kishore, Hyderabad Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar Mahesh Bhagwat, IPS Commissioner of Police Rachakonda, V.C Sajjanar, I.P.S Commissioner Of Police Cyberabad, Smt.K. Amrapali, IAS Addl. Commissioner GHMC & Joint CEO Telangana, K. Manicka Raj, IAS District Collector and Magistrate Hyderabad , Smt. Hari Chandana IAS, Zonal Commissioner, GHMC Smt.B.Shailaja, Director, WD&SC & State Nodal Officer for PwDs will participate in the walk. Other participants include eminent personalities from various fields, persons with disabilities along with activists and non-governmental organizations engaged in empowering persons with disabilities.
This awareness exercise is among a slew of other initiatives planned by the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer to achieve the Election Commission of India’s mission of making elections accessible to all — ‘Accessible Elections’.
