Shilparamam presents the weekend Cultural Programs
Manjeera Academy of Kuchipudi Dance performed ” Kuchipudi Yekshaganam – Goda Kalyanam” on Saturday 24th of Feb at Amphitheater, Shilparamam
Goda Kalyanam:
Smt Renuka Prabhakar along with her students performed “Goda Kalyam” in a traditional kuchipudi style of dance form called “Yakshaganam”.
This form of “Yakshaganam”-” Suthradhari” (the Narrator) narrates the story line with the different characters.
“Vishu Chitta/Periyal”, (Father of Goda Devi), Perialwar was a devoutee, Vishnu Baktha and was always filled with thoughts of Vishnu and his avatars.
One day on his routine work when Perialwar was collecting flowers he hears a cry of a baby from the Tulasi tree, surprisingly he finds a baby girl, he treats her as Lord Vishnu’s gift to him as a daughter.
The dance drama consists of “Pravesha Dharuvu” for the introduction of the main role ” Goda Devi”
Here on, the dance drama describes elegantly about Goda’s life and her devotion towards “Lord Vishnu “, how she could make a wish and fulfill regarding marrying him (“Lord Vishnu- Ranganatah Swamy”).
The story also describes how friends of Goda, Gods, Goddesses including the common people were delighted to attend the wedding.
