Acharya said that the doctors belonging to Ayurveda, Homeopathy, and Unani systems of medicine will be available for two days each in a week at the Clinic from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM on all working days. He said that in addition to the trainees and staff of the Institute, the people residing in Jubilee Hills and the adjoining areas can avail the facilities available at the Clinic.
“In view of the dwindling preference for the Indian systems of medicine, there is a pressing need to create wider awareness about their utility in effectively preventing and curing many a disease”, Acharya observed.
Dr. Smt. Alagu Varshini said that the primary focus of the Indian systems of medicine is on identifying the root cause of diseases and finding out permanent solutions to them rather than merely addressing their symptoms and providing temporary relief and quick-fix solutions to patients. “The thrust is more on boosting the immune system of people so as to ensure that they remain healthy and do not fall ill in the first place”, she said with a sense of pride and added that at least on one day the doctors will cater to the panchakarma requirements of patients.
Dr Smt. Alagu Varshini stated that while the Allopathic system of medicine has got its own merits in handling emergency and acute conditions, undertaking surgical procedures, using advanced methods of diagnosis, etc., the Indian systems of medicine have proved their inherent strengths in treating neurological disorders, infertility issues, skin diseases, age related conditions, etc. “At the same time, the Indian systems of medicine are least expensive, are within the easy reach of a common man, and thereby best suited to Indian conditions”, she stated and added that even for the treatment of general ailments and tropical diseases, the Indian systems of medicine are equally effective.
“Both consultations with the doctors and the distribution of medicines, as per the prescription, will be free of any charge at the Clinic established at the Institute”, said Dr. Smt. Alagu Varshini.
